Rocky the Otterhound: Cute girls and Rabbits

Rocky has had a quieter week, there have been high winds but bright sunshine on the whole. The wind has been cold though, but I don’t think Rocky noticed! He hasn’t got his adult coat yet but still seems warm as toast while I feel freezing despite my warm one. I’m sure I should have been born in the Mediterranean, ah well, such is life!!

Anyway, Rocky had a special visitor this week, her name is Daisy and she is a 10 week old Basset Hound …………… and soooooo cute!! Rocky was kinda knocked out to meet her!

She was all flumpety, like big footed puppies are ………… and a little in awe of Rocky to begin with. However as playtime got going she worked out pretty quickly how to run rings around him ………….. you see, while Rocky was going in ever decreasing circles trying to find her, she would run right under him (between those large, long legs) and end up where he had previously just been looking!! Wish you could have seen the look on his face - it was a picture (unfortunately not a real one as he moved too quickly)!

They did settle down to some getting to know you and loves and kisses. Hounds are really gentle dogs you know and the only way Rocky would have hurt her would have been if he had accidentally sat on her. In her own right Daisy was as gentle as she was cute …………. Could have cuddled her for ever!

Rocky found out how to tickle her tummy, like you do with babies!! She’s got a really good laugh already as well!!

Being an Otterhound and a problem solver he soon learned the best way to keep her where he could play with her, he lay down when she was under him …………. But he didn’t have the upper hand for long ……… Daisy can wriggle out of the way quite quickly for a youngster ………. Then the chase was on again!!

She then decided to go exploring in her new surroundings and Rocky (being a gentleman in training) tried to show her the most interesting bits of his home. He even ran off for a bit to get a really neat toy that he wanted her to see …………….

Daisy waited patiently by Rocky’s bed; which is nearly too small for him but big enough for Daisy ....... and all her family I think!! They had a bit more of a run around and play …………. Catch me if you can being Daisy’s favourite …………… she loved running under the Rocky dog!!!!

Daisy was looking a little tired so was helped up onto a seat for a rest. Rocky was a little perturbed that his new friend was lazing around, so decided to be the perfect host and join her. Well, if I’m honest I’m surprised he didn’t dive for the comfy sofa first but then Rocky has been full of surprises since we got him! Anyway, cuddle time worked out well for both of them – had to have a photo, would have been so sad to miss this one!

Shortly after this short break they both got a little twitchy and it was game on again! Rocky was sporting his new squeaky pull toy and very proudly showed it off to Daisy. I think Daisy was too preoccupied though and very quickly wanted to get back to exploring this new environment

When it was time for Daisy to get home for her tea, her lead was put on ……………. however, Rocky wasn’t having any of it and decided that if he could get her behind the sofa her owner might go home without her. He therefore took charge and led her quietly away! We were feeling much the same way and if her owner hadn’t been so determined we may still have had Daisy with us today! Sigh! But Rocky (and us) had to let her go. We can’t wait to see her again as she is awfully cute and Rocky had loads of fun with her!!

Also this week, one of Rocky’s favourite people had a birthday.
It appears to have been an exhausting business

............. so Rocky helped the celebrations end well ………. With a great big sleepy cuddle!! Aaaah!

This weeks big explore saw Rocky running around the plain in high, freezing winds. He didn’t mind though, loves exploring no matter what the temperature! He had a mixture of grass and woodland to explore and made the very best of it. There was the obligatory mad fit as various twigs and leaves blew past him and he really enjoyed running off in all directions and heading back as fast as his (still mainly uncontrolled) legs could take him.

However, in honour of the upcoming festival he thought he would do another of his famous impressions ………….. This is …………… his Easter Bunny impression!!!
I think we could make money out of this fella if he continues to be such a good impressionist ……….. What do you think?
