Rocky the Otterhound: visitors and cuddles.

Rocky and Rosie were expecting a visit from an old friend, but this friend was bringing a new member of the family with her!

They were so excited that they just had to keep watch to be the first to know they had arrived.

It was their old friend Molly, and Molly had bought her puppy Meg with her!

They were all terribly excited, so we took them for a walk to the fields so that they could run and romp to their hearts content!

Rocky went immediately into Otterhound scenting mode and moved around with Otterhound purpose ........

Molly and Meg just couldn't stop their tails wagging!

Molly started in with nose work and Meg (still bounding with puppy play) decided to watch mum closely.

It soon became apparent that the two different types of dogs were going to do what each had been bred for ...........

......... So the pairs set off in different directions in order to practice their art!

Little Meg kept coming back to check that her pack leader was still within running distance ........

Then it was back to mum to pick up on what she should do.

Both these breeds are working dogs, so when let off the lead they will "Work" rather than romp and play.

That's fine though, as they are all doing what they enjoy and still use up lots of energy!

Of course, Rocky found a bunny hole ...........

......... So Rosie had to join in ....... Never get any bunnies ........... But they just love to try!

It wasn't until we got back home that the pals decided to have fun and games together........

"Come on Meg and Molly, play with me ...... Let's play chase"!

Chase was played; and then the quieter kind of play began.

Meg liked Rosie's bed ......... and Rocky's ball .......

..... She really liked Rocky's ball!

Rosie thought these two (very fast moving) friends were fascinating ...........

Rocky thought they were great ....... But a little tiring ........

Couch potatoes can only do so much charging around you know ..........

Well, alright ....... He can do lots ...... BUT when faced with a comfy looking sofa the urge to veg is irresistible after a while!!!!!

All too soon it was time for their visitors to go home ........

Rocky, like Rosie, was left disheveled and happy!

So, of course, they were due for a little snooze time!

And snooze they did ........ Lot's!

After all that poking about in hedges and bunny holes they needed a bit of a groom ..........

Rocky's golden tresses were soon put to rights.

Then it was Rosie's turn ........

Rosie just loves having her ears groomed ........ she goes all gooey and daft ........ Bless!

Talking of going daft, Rosie has been acting a little strange lately ...... And has been wanting more than her usual loves!

She has taken to putting her head on your shoulder and enjoying the top of her head being scratched ........

She has also taken to emptying the toy box and searching for small and fluffy toys ......

Yes, she is having a brief phantom pregnancy following her first season .....

But she remains a happy, loving hound ..... She is just a little confused!

All is starting to resolve itself and she has maintained her lovely personality ......

........ And need for hound dog sleep .........

.......So night night Rosie ..........

...... Dream of fluffy toys and games with friends .........

......... And night night Rocky, dream of romps with pals and comfy sofa's!
